Freedom is a short-lived 2000 American science fiction television show on the UPN network. There were 12 episodes filmed but only 7 were aired in the US. Some episodes were further aired internationally, and the full series is still occasionally broadcast in Brazil.

In 1991, refugees wrongly accused in a high-profile assassination were jailed in Vellore Fort. Though later proven innocent, many remained imprisoned. In 1995, 43 escaped—some recaptured, others fled abroad seeking freedom.

David, a paraplegic father, has jeopardized his marriage and he has alienated his young son by putting his career ahead of his family's needs. He tries to redeem himself, but finds great challenges as he races across town in order to make it on time to his son's viola recital.

He unites with sharecropper Abner Lait, who helps Jackson unite ex-slaves and white tenant farmers.
